We first waited for a long time at the gas station before this spot, and then moved to the chicken restaurant at the location to take a break after 90 minutes of waiting. We ate our lunch and asked around a bit with the other people in the restaurant. One of them said they can take us to Foča and ended our wait. He was a fast driver, so I'm pretty sure we were at least 30 min faster than anticipated. Also: I highly recommend the restaurant! Great food at very affordable prices.

We first tried hitchhiking at the intersection after the gas station because cars are relatively slow there, and then moved to the gas station itself to ask around a bit. After 30-40 min, a guy picked us up and drove us to a better spot after the airport. By coincidence, it was the same guy who picked me up 10 days earlier to drive me into Sarajevo. Funny how that happens some times!―Kartenhouse

My host drove me up to this parking lot just in front of the tunnel entrance. It is not the best spot ever because drivers are pretty fast and they are coming around the corner in a way that they see you very late. There is, however plenty of space to pull over.I think I got a bit lucky, as after 15 minutes a car pulled over and took me all the way to Sarajevo.

Probably it's the best to go to the end of the city to avoid local traffic. Previous driver left me near that place and it was good. Actually my driver was going to Modrica and the best way is via Zivnica, but he changed route for Sarajevo for me.―Anonymous

la sola loko kiu funkciis de ĉiuj 3 markitaj ĉi tie. Nu, la bushaltejon tie mi provis dum la nokto, do ĝi ne gravas tro multe. Sed ĉi tie ne estas tiel facile halti kiel tie. Neniu dubo. Tamen dumtage estas tro multaj homoj haltantaj tie.―Anonymous

Hitched a ride while walking to find a spot. Sign Sarajevo in hand.―Anonymous

An ok spot, people here are going from sarajevo and especially the A1 highway towards tuzla. There is shade but not a lot of room to pull over. However it is possible to stop a car here. Nonetheless we got a ride with a sweet grandpa after 10 minutes of waiting.―Anonymous

This spot is so so, mostly local traffic, so sign doesn't really work. It's public place so people gonna stare at you, but mostly they're friendly and give you pieces of advice.Better go to the side of M5 road, not here. On M5 there are the most of Serbian traffic.
All the other spots further on this road are also not working anymore in 2025 or just shit, so better avoid this part.
I ended up picked up by a local here and after driving few miles further he started asking for 10 euros and it appeared that I by accident hitchhiked a Taxi. We screamed at each other and he threatened to call police. I told him that I had literally 0 money on me and nowhere to get then, after some time he told me to get out.
Weird experience :/

It's hard to rate this spot.Usually traffic here goes too fast, but I was lucky, because right when I started hitchhiking, the police came to control this part of the road and they had no problem with me hitchhiking there, they even suggested drivers that they stop to pick me up. So them controlling this road made traffic slow enough for cool drivers to notice me.
But overall, it has a LOT of space to stop, so it's a better spot than the one after the tunnel earlier on this road.

I don't agree with previous reviews, maybe something changed there. There's no stop before the tunnel. After tunnel there's a small place for cars to pull over. To signalized, you need to stay on a narrow side of the bridge where it's easy to fall down from very high place. Cars go extremely fast and don't see you at all. It felt impossible and nobody stopped, so I left.

Actually quite chill spot.Plenty of space for cars to stop, traffic is not fast. Got a lift directly to Sarajevo pretty fast with a sign.

I stood right behind the Croatian border and got a few people stopping. I walked there from Metković and got told by a border guard to go a bit behind the border station out of its sight. Rides to at least Mostar should be easy to get, I even got one all the way to Sarajevo.―Anonymous

The spot is five star. Plenty of space to pull over, good visibility. Tons of slow traffic. The people? Hmmmmm...With such a good spot and tons of traffic, all of which was going towards sarajevo, I may have had high expectations, but it turned into a 2.5 hour wait, which considering just how many cars where passing and how good the spot was, felt a little excessive.
The thing which was properly demoralising though, was the fact that almost nobody smiled or waved or acknowledged me like in normal countries. Everyone seemed to hate their lives and treated the lone hitchiker shivering in the snow with total apathy. I got lots of frowns and cold hard stares. I agree with the other comment at the gazprom spot (free wifi btw) Nobody here seems to give a damn about hitchikers.
All was well as eventually I did get picked up by the biggest gigachad on the planet (they spoke perfect english too) and had an awsome ride straight to sarajevo, but still I found the way people looked at me here unlike anywhere else in the world, and pretty unexpected. If you want to hitchike to sarajevo, make sure you be ok with waiting, and getting ignored/frowned at a lot. Hopefully it'll be better for you though :)
